- Management of the multi-disciplinary AESA CDT in the delivery of the engineering solutions on time, to cost and performance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the CTO and capability function and work to develop the strategy for antenna technology development.
- Identify opportunities to develop technologies and people to maintain our position at the forefront of airborne AESA design.
- Develop a knowledge of critical supply chain elements - e.g. GaAs/GaN/SiGe & QFNs, and foster relations with key suppliers
- Work with customers and suppliers to understand technologies and coordinate development activities to align with capabilities across sectors and product lines
- Manage team workload and priorities; provide estimates; evaluate, manage and mitigate engineering risks
- Ensure the CDT solution is integrated within the overall product engineering plan, establishing key milestones and interdependencies and adherence to the relevant engineering standards
- Manage and support Project Engineering Leads in the preparation of monthly Programme reporting on Cost and Schedule performance
- Ensure Critical Design Features, e.g. Unit Production Cost, yield, KPIs (RF parameters etc), are defined, tracked and managed across the portfolio
- Promote design commonality and re-use within the team, and promote best practice use of the team’s engineering resources across the business
- Work closely with the other CDT leads to ensure compatible systems and identify any opportunities for commonality.
- Ensure that a “product” ethos is adopted for all AESA designs to minimise both non-recurring and recurring engineering costs.
- Liaison with engineering functional leads to maintain and develop the capability of the AESA CDT to ensure the skills, knowledge and experience required to deliver the CDT strategy, and short-term commitments, is assured
- Typically is degree qualified in an engineering discipline
- Typically meets the requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council, and be an active member of a relevant Professional Body.
- Full SC (UK Eyes)
- Demonstrable experience and success within their previous role.
- Well rounded experiences in all phases of the lifecycle across several projects or programmes and preferably in a number of engineering domains
- Proven team leadership skills within a specialist technical environment.
- Proven track record delivering engineering solutions on time, cost and performance
- Work package management, including; plans and estimates, scheduling and risk management processes
- Previous experience in related technologies is preferred (RF/Microwave, Packaging, PCA design for example)
- Knowledge and experience of semiconductor wafer foundry processes and QFN component manufacture and test
- Research and development of new technologies/ tools/ processes within design, development and manufacture for high reliability products
- Technical support to sub-contracts and engineering interface with manufacturing.
