Contract Type: Temporary, Full-timeSanctuary Personnel is seeking a skilled Decant Officer to join a dynamic Housing Services team within a local authority in Haringey. This role is integral to supporting residents affected by major works, disrepair, or regeneration projects, ensuring they are relocated efficiently and respectfully—whether on a temporary or permanent basis.Overview of the Role:The Decant Officer will manage the complete decanting process, providing tailored support to residents and ensuring a smooth transition while meeting statutory obligations and maintaining tenant wellbeing. You’ll liaise extensively across teams and with external partners to coordinate logistics and maintain service continuity.Main Responsibilities:End-to-End Decant CoordinationOversee all aspects of resident decants, including sourcing suitable accommodation, arranging removals, and managing move-in/out logistics.Issue licence agreements or new tenancies in line with council policy and legal frameworks.Handle tenancy changes and terminations, updating records accordingly.Resident Liaison & SupportAct as the single point of contact for residents undergoing decant, maintaining regular and empathetic communication.Conduct monthly welfare checks for those in longer-term temporary housing or awaiting suitable offers.Inform residents of their rights, responsibilities, and entitlements, including disturbance payments and home loss compensation.Multi-Agency Working & Internal CollaborationWork closely with internal teams such as Voids, Disrepair, and Property Services to prioritise decant cases.Attend and contribute to bi-weekly case review panels and service meetings.Instruct necessary services including cleaning, furniture provision, and removal logistics.Data Management & ReportingMaintain accurate and up-to-date records across all systems and spreadsheets, particularly the Decant Tracker.Monitor budgetary elements including compensation and removal costs, ensuring compliance and cost-effectiveness.Identify resident vulnerabilities and ensure appropriate referrals to support agencies are made.Community EngagementRepresent the council at tenant engagement events and liaise with resident groups as needed.Handle complaints and resolve concerns related to the decant process, ensuring a professional and timely response.Candidate Profile:Essential Criteria:Strong background in housing or tenancy management, preferably within a local authority.Experience managing sensitive or complex housing cases, with a resident-first approach.Confident communicator, capable of building rapport and managing expectations across diverse communities.High level of organisational skill with strong attention to detail in case and data management.Competence using housing IT systems and Microsoft Office Suite.Desirable Criteria:Housing qualification (e.g., CIH Level 3+) or relevant professional development.Familiarity with the legal and operational frameworks surrounding decanting, disrepair, and void management.Previous involvement in regeneration or resident relocation programmes.Why Choose Sanctuary Personnel?
