international reach.The TeamThe Real Estate team is at the heart of Devonshires' business. Within the team, there are 17
dedicated partners working on a wide variety of property transactions with a broad range of clients.
This includes registered providers of social housing and care homes, through to private developers,
acting on sites and developments from a handful of units to thousands, to portfolio and street
property acquisitions and disposals.We are seeking to recruit a Paralegal to assist our Real Estate and Projects Department. The focus
of this position is to our support our active team in delivering a high level of service to our clients.Job purpose
We have a great opportunity for a paralegal with planning experience to join our thriving and
growing Planning Team. This is a fast-paced, autonomous role that will provide real scope, quality
work and the chance to develop and grow your expertise. You will work on all aspects of
planning law and have the opportunity to be involved in Business Development.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:This is not an exhaustive list and from time to time it may be necessary to vary these to meet the
department and business needs.
  • Carrying out planning due diligence from the perspectives of buyer, seller, funder, and
developer in both real estate and corporate transactions
  • Drafting planning due diligence reports / replies in Certificates of Title
  • Drafting and negotiating s106 agreements
  • Drafting and negotiating s278 and s38 agreements
  • Drafting planning provisions for contracts conditional on planning
  • Drafting planning warranties and indemnities into contracts of sale and purchase and option
agreements
  • Drafting environmental warranties and indemnities into contracts of sale and purchase and
option agreements
The Planning team and wider Real Estate Department has a very open and collegiate team
structure, and you will be encouraged to be involved in business development initiatives and also to
assist in training and development.Person Specification
Essential skills and requirements
  • You will have an appropriate degree in Law or equivalent (or appropriate conversion) or an
appropriate subject.
  • Previous Planning law experience, with a keen interest to further develop in this area.
  • You are competent in all MS applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and
clients at all levels.
  • The ability to interpret instructions correctly and act upon them.
  • The confidence to use your own initiative and take responsibility where necessary and
appropriate.
  • The ability to work to extremely tight time frames and under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to perform in a high volume, deadline-orientated
role.
  • A sound understanding of client confidentiality.
  • Positive attitude with high level of personal motivation.
