The role:Joining the company as a key member of the senior leadership team during this exciting period of growth and business transformation, the Head of Finance will report directly to the Managing Director. You will have full responsibility for overseeing and leading the end-to-end financial functions. You will also work closely with the senior management team to ensure effective financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis, while also ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.Main Job Responsibilities:● Take management responsibility for the full Finance function in the UK and European operations (France and The Netherlands), including ownership of Financial, Cash, Treasury and Currency control mechanisms and reporting.● Manage and oversee the financial operations including Management Accounting, Purchase Ledger, Invoicing, Credit Control and Payroll (the last in conjunction with HR).● Continuously review, improve, and drive the implementation of new systems, processes and policies that enable the business to operate more effectively and efficiently across the Finance department.● Ensure accurate financial data and maintain data integrity.1. People management· Direct management a team of 7: Management accounting, Credit Control, Purchase Ledger, Accounts Payable.2. Financial Planning and Analysis· Conduct thorough financial analysis, monitor financial performance, identify trends, provide recommendations on areas of improvement, and provide insight and reports to the Senior Management team.· Ensure that an efficient structure is in place for regulatory requirements, reporting, sales operations, etc.· Oversee and manage annual budgets, provide regular forecasts, and ensure financial targets are met in all departments.· Review and manage insurance policies.· Manage the EU branches in collaboration with local accountants to ensure full compliance is met in France and The Netherlands.3. Credit Control and Purchasing· Ensure the efficient flow of invoicing and communications systems.· Provide advice and guidance to the credit control team on customer creditworthiness, limits, and exposures as required.· Provide a monthly report of debits and credit with customers, and report on open RMA’s within customers and in our warehouse.· Approve expenses and costs on Purchase Ledger.· Manage the Amazon account and ensure prompt response to debt and other credit issues and ensure RMA’s are cleared on time.· Manage aged debtors.4. Reporting and Compliance· Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and other financial reporting requirements.· Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts for review.· Manage the consolidation of financial results across multiple entities within the group and prepare accurate and timely consolidated financial statements.· Prepare the Internal Audit file for Company auditors.· Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with statutory obligations.· Understand our internal controls that safeguard company assets and maintain the integrity of financial data and look for areas of improvement.· Prepare VAT returns.· Work with the team to prepare bank reconciliation, cashbooks, and cashflow forecasts in all currencies and purchase spot effects.· Work with the teams to provide a range of reports, as required, across sales, marketing and operations to support with the effective running of the business.· Prepare sales commission reports.· Manage customer rebates and report accordingly.· Prepare copywrite tax reports.5. ERP· Work with IT to improve process flow by evaluating and improving reporting mechanisms· Understand the financial modules of our ERP systems, and how they integrate with other modules such as inventory, sales, procurement etc.· Ensure the EPR system is maintained and optimised for finance-related processes.· Work with ERP consultants to continuously improve our processes.6. Leadership· Responsible for the transformation of the financial operations, including systems, automation and process improvement.· Actively participate in and lead by example through all change management initiatives.· Ensure that there is sufficient training across the team to perform their jobs and use the ERP and other systems.· Build teams and collaborations which encourage cooperation and deliver project goals.· Foster a culture of integrity and instil mutual trust and confidence within the teams.· Manage the Finance teams’ performance, ensuring the team file monitoring reports and accounts on time, supporting audits and providing forecasts.Skills Required:· Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Professional certifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or ACA are highly desirable.· Proven experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or a similar role, in the wholesale, distribution, and manufacturing industries.· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.· Knowledge of BI tools such as Power BI is a plus.· Knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS) and experience working with multi-currency environments.· Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.· Proven experience in managing, training, and developing finance team.· Solid understanding of internal controls, risk management, and compliance procedures.· Strong leadership and team management abilities, with effective communication and interpersonal skills.· Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.· Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.· Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.· Strong experience of working with non-finance teams on company-wide projects.· Experience with ERP systems and financial management software (Ideally Epicor).· Experience of utilising technology to improve business performance.The Company:
