- Supervising classes during the short-term absence of the regular teacher.
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.
- Distributing and overseeing pre-prepared lesson materials and activities set by the subject teacher.
- Ensuring students remain on task and understand the work they have been set.
- Responding to students' questions and providing appropriate support.
- Upholding the school's policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding and behaviour.
- Providing feedback to the regular teacher on the progress of the lesson and any issues encountered.
- Have a genuine interest in working with young people (typically aged 11-16).
- Possess strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students.
- Are confident, adaptable, and able to use their initiative.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Are reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Are committed to creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Previous experience working in a school or with young people is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.
- A good standard of education, including GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent), is typically expected.
