- Oversee efficient and flexible day-to-day resource deployment for planned and reactive tasks.
- Ensure procedures and documentation are maintained for all engineering work.
- Manage and monitor service delivery to meet performance targets and ensure ongoing best value.Balance internal and external resources cost-effectively and manage subcontractors as needed.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of contracts, SLAs, and KPIs to proactively deliver services.
- Drive results through continuous service improvement and monitoring.Communicate performance updates and staff concerns regularly.
- Handle performance issues to resolution and keep clients informed.
- Support staff development, succession planning, and a positive work environment.
- Liaise with clients and third parties to improve service levels and patient experience.
- Seek innovative ways to enhance project profitability.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of, and compliance with, relevant legislation and NHS requirements.
- Ensure adherence to Mitie policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
- Align operational activities with Mitie's commercial objectives.
- Participate in the Estates on-call/out-of-hours service.
- Perform AP duties for HV/LV, lifts, medical gases, and other low-risk roles per policy.
- Ensure plant and equipment are properly maintained using modern management practices.
- Comply with statutory obligations (SFG20, HTMs).
- Perform additional duties as required by the Account Manager.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated managerial experience and proven competence in Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance, with a strong electrical bias.
- Degree level or HND qualification in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Professionally registered engineer.
- NEBOSH or comparable Health and Safety certification.
- Proficient in CAFM Systems.
- Extensive experience coordinating all aspects of maintenance for building services, including fabric and structure, utilising both internal and external resources.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience with Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality systems.
- Effective presentation, influencing, and motivational abilities, with a track record managing multi-skilled engineering teams.
- Life Cycle Planning and Costing experience.
- Proven ability to manage both in-house and subcontracted work within established financial and time constraints.
- Competence in minor design tasks and preparation of as-fitted drawings.
- Thorough understanding of statutory compliance, current legislation, regulations, and standards, together with experience overseeing site compliance.
- Exceptional organisational skills in managing building services; able to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and demonstrate sound client and contractor management as well as comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety management.
- People management expertise, consistently prioritising safety and employee wellbeing. Ability to interpret and apply relevant employee legislation, health and safety regulations, and implement appropriate recruitment, reward, and disciplinary procedures (including grievances and absences).
