Your role begins with a comprehensive 12-day training program at the Fire Service College in Moreton-In-Marsh, covering skills essential for deployment, including:
- Hose running
- Hydrant operation
- Pump operation
- Ladder climbing
- Operating a Fire Engine in an emergency situation
- Road Traffic Collision (RTC) - the use of hydraulic cutting equipment
- First Aid
- Emergency response driving (Driving on blue lights)
- Engage in ongoing training to maintain deployable status, including a 12-day initial training, 5-day initial emergency response driver training and annual 6-day refresher courses.
- Conduct daily inspections and maintenance checks on the fire engine, pump, hoses, and related equipment to ensure readiness and reliability.
- Participate in scenario-based training and skills practice during 'stand-down' times to ensure full readiness.
- Mobilise quickly to Central London and deploy to designated emergency locations as needed.
- Support emergency response activities, performing tasks typically handled by professional firefighters.
- Travel throughout the UK, prepared for extended assignments and periods of training and readiness exercises.
- Adhere to safety protocols for personal protective equipment and vehicles.
- Stamina: Ability to run 100 meters, jog for 5 minutes, and complete a 12-hour shift.
- Movement and Agility: Ability to climb ladders up to 8m, navigate confined spaces, and maintain flexibility in movement.
- Strength: Capability to lift up to 25kg and drag 55kg (e.g., heavy equipment or simulated rescue scenarios).
- Environment Adaptability: Ability to work in extreme temperatures, variable weather, and in enclosed or dark spaces.
- Vision and Hearing: Unassisted ability to read and distinguish sounds.
- Problem Solving and Dynamic Risk Assessment: Make timely decisions under pressure with situational awareness and hazard perception.
- Adaptability and Alertness: Quickly identify changes in a dynamic environment and adjust actions accordingly.
- Teamwork and Cooperation: Work seamlessly within a team, valuing and respecting the contributions of others.

- Must have right to work in the UK, be able to travel nationwide and pass security screening.
