Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.This role is in our Procurement department, our Procurement team source, purchase and manage our products and services to ensure the right quality and delivery.Ideally, you will be based near our Stevenage office; however, we welcome applications from across the UK. The role will involve travel to various locations nationwide.Want to come and be a part of it?What will you be doing?You'll lead sustainable, innovative, and value-driven procurement by sourcing in line with ESG goals, staying ahead of industry trends, managing transformational change, and clearly reporting savings to demonstrate bottom-line impact.Also, focus on cost optimization by identifying opportunities for savings while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.You'll lead framework contract negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and company standards. Where possible, use group-preferred supplier contracts to maximize benefits.You'll build and nurture a buying team by recruiting, mentoring, and developing talent, while championing best practices in procurement processes, supplier management, and negotiation. Create a positive, collaborative culture that values continuous improvement, innovation, and performance.You'll cultivate strong relationships with senior management, clearly presenting procurement strategies and gaining support for processes and adherence to group contracts.We'll ask you to proactively identify and manage risks within the supply chain, addressing potential disruptions, cost fluctuations, and sector-specific regulatory changes.What you'll bring
  • A wealth of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within industry.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, sourcing strategies, and contract management.
  • Experience managing complex supply chains, preferably significant subcontractor experience.
  • Proven track record of achieving cost savings and negotiating with supply chain.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyse data and make strategic procurement decisions.
  • Familiarity with procurement technologies (e.g., ERP, Oracle, or other procurement software).
