The Bar Manager is responsible for the service at the bars and for the area outside the respective Bars, including overall bar service levels as per SOPs, staff training and control, inventory/stock control, accounting control and procedures, cleaning and maintenance.Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the bar service and beverage sales in and outside the respective Bar.
- Responsible for the bar stock of beverages.
- Follows the Inventory Control Procedures.
- Registers and controls all beverage sales on the passenger's accounts.
- Initiates and follows beverage requisition procedures.
- Responsible for reporting and following up on maintenance and repairs and for the cleanliness of the bars.
- Responsible for the training and supervision of the bar staff assigned to him/her.
- Accountable for the respect of USPH protocols at all bars. Follows the US Public Health self inspection requirements and is familiar with sanitation procedures.
- Trains and supervises staff on a permanent basis in order that they perform their duties in a proper manner.
- Establishes Work Schedules for the staff and plans their duties accordingly.
- Establishes a good working spirit and is co-operative with all other departments.
- Interacts with Guests in a friendly manner, show a helpful attitude at all times, always have a smile and be courteous and pleasant, reflective of Orient Express' standards of service.
- Conducts staff' orientation and mid/end contract performance evaluations and makes recommendations for promotion. Introduces new crew members to their working areas and to the rules and regulations on board.
- Communicates with his/her superior routinely. Participates to meetings as directed.
- Prepares a voyages report in the end of each cruise.
- Responsible for the management, update and communication of the rotation plan for crew members in collaboration with the hotel director and assistant purser.
- Languages: Fluent English mandatory. Additional languages are a plus.
- Education: A high-school degree or equivalent in Hospitality or related field.
- Previous professional experience: 3 years' experience as Bar Manager plus appropriate on the job training for the Manager's position as well as proper skills in beverage and USPH knowledge.
- Shipboard experience: Yes.
- Valid STCW certificates.
- Valid Pre-Employment Medical.
- C1D visa mandatory for all positions.
