- Lead, motivate, and coordinate warehouse operatives to ensure smooth and efficient shift operations.
- Allocate daily tasks, monitor progress, and adjust workloads to meet operational targets and deadlines.
- Oversee the safe loading, unloading, and storage of waste and recyclable materials in line with company procedures.
- Ensure all materials are processed, labelled, and stored correctly for onward movement or disposal.
- Conduct shift briefings and toolbox talks to communicate safety updates, targets, and operational priorities.
- Monitor equipment and machinery use, reporting any faults or maintanence
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials and inventory systems.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures, including use of PPE.
- Complete and check all shift-related paperwork, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Train and mentor new staff on safe working practices, recycling processes, and operational standards.
- Liaise with supervisors, site managers, and transport teams to coordinate material movement.
- Carry out regular housekeeping checks to maintain a safe, clean, and organised warehouse environment.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and compliance checks as required.
- Implement and promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and safety.
- Own transport is essential for this role due to location
- Must have previous Wareshouse Shift leader experience gained within the Environmental or Waste Industry
- IT skills are essential
- Experience of completing risk assessment are essential
- Health and Safety knpwledge is essential gained in a environmental/indistrial setting
- Forklift Counterbalance experience
- Experience operating forklifts, telehandlers, or other material handling equipment (with valid certification).
- Familiarity with weighbridge systems and waste tracking software.
- Experience with hazardous waste handling procedures and COSHH regulations.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement processes.
- Experience in stock control, inventory management, and warehouse systems.
- Hands-on experience with maintenance reporting and fault logging for plant equipment.
