We’re supporting a specialist provision in Sunderland that works with autistic learners and pupils with complex needs. Their approach centres on structure, understanding, and high-quality, individualised support that helps every child succeed.They’re looking for a skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) who can bring expertise, initiative, and a nurturing presence to the classroom someone who’s confident leading groups, supporting learning plans, and working collaboratively with teachers and therapists.In this role, you’ll:Lead small group sessions and targeted interventionsProvide 1:1 support for pupils with autism and complex learning needsSupport teachers with planning, delivery, and assessmentHelp to implement structured routines and positive behaviour strategiesModel best practice for other support staffWe’d love to hear from you if you have:HLTA qualification or equivalent experience leading learning activitiesProven experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly autism and complex needsConfidence in behaviour support and communication strategies (PECS, Makaton, or similar)A positive, flexible attitude and a genuine passion for making a differenceWhy join this school?
