An exciting opportunity has become available for a knowledgeable and experienced Head Gardener to manage and maintain the stunning gardens of a private, historic property nestled in the heart of the East Sussex countryside.The gardens surrounding the main house have undergone significant renovation over recent years and now require a Head Gardener – to manage the garden team, working alongside designers and contractors.The estates feature a diverse mix of formal gardens, parkland, mature woodland, kitchen garden, ornamental borders, and water features. The grounds are maintained to an exceptionally high standard and serve as a peaceful & beautiful space – both horticulturally and sustainably.Suitable applicants will have experience managing gardeners and gardening teams including contractors, across multiple sites/estates. They will ideally possess academic horticultural qualifications and experience in horticulturally diverse gardens; have good physical fitness; and excellent plant identification and management skills. Practical experience with a full range of garden machinery is desired, including chemical spray certificates and chainsaw operation. Applicants should be passionate, energetic and experienced hands-on professionals with management experience.The position is full time and permanent. The working hours for the position are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm (Summer) and 9.00am to 4.00pm (Winter) with occasional weekend working which can be taken back in lieu at times agreed.
