Pay: Competitive hourly rate (based on experience)About the RoleConnex Education is recruiting for an experienced Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) Tutor to deliver one-to-one tuition to children and young people with EHCPs. Pupils may present with Autism, ADHD, Bipolar, and other complex needs, often requiring a therapeutic approach to learning.Tuition may take place in the pupil’s home or in a school setting such as a PRU. You’ll be helping students who struggle to engage in mainstream education by creating tailored learning plans that combine academic progress with emotional support.This role would suit someone with a background in mentoring, counselling, prison education, youth work, or support work, who can build trust and use therapeutic techniques to make learning meaningful and accessible.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver engaging one-to-one tuition sessions tailored to SEMH needs.Plan and adapt creative lessons to suit each pupil’s academic level and personal circumstances.Use therapeutic techniques to encourage resilience, self-esteem, and engagement.Liaise with parents, carers, and the local authority on progress.Keep accurate records of attendance, progress, and session feedback.Maintain safeguarding and health & safety standards at all times.What We’re Looking For✅ Experience working with SEMH students, ideally in tuition, mentoring, counselling, or alternative provisions.
✅ Knowledge of strategies to support Autism, ADHD, and emotional regulation.
✅ Patient, resilient, and adaptable with strong behaviour management skills.
✅ Background in counselling, prisons, youth offending teams, or support work (desirable).
✅ A valid Enhanced DBS (on the update service, or willing to obtain).
