🎵 SEND Music Teacher – 1 Day a Week | Not your typical classroom, not your typical job 🎶🕘 9:00am – 3:00pm | 1 day per week | No homework, no parents’ eveningsWe’re working with a small, specialist setting that supports students who’ve been let down by mainstream education. These are young people aged 14–16, often referred by local authorities, with lived experience of trauma, SEMH challenges, and neurodiversity (think OCD, ADHD, Autism). Many haven’t been in school for a while. But here, they’re seen, supported, and safe.🎧 What’s the role?
You’ll teach music to a maximum of 16 students (usually fewer), mostly on a 1:1 basis. With an LSA by your side, you’ll help students explore identity, emotion, and confidence through the power of guitar, drums, and keyboard. Whether it’s learning rhythm to support regulation, jamming out frustrations, or composing something all their own—music becomes a tool for connection. You’ll deliver 5 lessons between 9am and 3pm, with time built in for marking (don’t worry, it’s light). You’ll also contribute to student progress through regular, supportive feedback—not endless paperwork.✨ Why this job is differentNo behaviour charts or tick-box targets—just personalised timetables and real relationshipsNo homework or parents’ eveningsYou’ll be part of a nurturing team: 5 teachers, 6 LSAs, a drama therapist, a counselling offer, and even outdoor ed with horse riding, mountain biking, and survival skillsTerm-time only (189 days including training)Family-friendly and flexible, ideal if you’re balancing other work or childcare💬 What we're looking for:A qualified music teacher (QTS or equivalent)Confident with guitar, drums, and keyboardExperience working with neurodiverse young people and/or those with SEMH needsSomeone who understands that trauma impacts learning—and knows how to meet students with empathy, not punishmentYou're not in it for the salary (we’re honest—it won’t match mainstream), but for the reward of making a differenceThis school isn’t about league tables or prestige. It’s about taking students from hurt and trauma to hope and healing. And they need teachers who get that.📩
