The School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics (HAPP) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to recruit a talented Lecturer in Philosophy.Philosophy at Queen’s University Belfast is a small but dynamic and pluralist unit located within the School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy, and Politics, with research strengths in ethics, history of philosophy, and epistemology. It is seeking to appoint a lecturer to drive the further growth of the unit. The area of specialisation is one or more of: Metaphysics (including social metaphysics); Epistemology (including social epistemology); Philosophy of science; Philosophy of language (including social and political philosophy of language); Logic; Philosophy of mind. The person appointed will be expected to play an active role in the School’s research and teaching activities, and to work closely with colleagues from across the School in building its externally facing profile (including building and sustaining international collaborations).The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:
  • Have a PhD or equivalent in philosophy.
  • A proven record of high-quality research in philosophy and of the ability to produce philosophy publications of an international standard commensurate with career stage.
  • Demonstrable evidence of high-quality teaching in philosophy
  • Ability to teach introductory logic.
  • Evident skills in, and commitment to, developing student learning and the quality of the student experience.
