The BU Manager will be in charge of technical site operations in Edinburgh, managing the technical operations, maximizing the efficiency and profitability of the technical teams and delivering the targets of the BU, both financial and strategic. More specifically, BU Manager will:
  • Coach technical and scientific experts within the company in order to increase laboratory reputation on the market and provide growth opportunities for the technical team and ensure sustainability in technical excellence for the company.
  • Adapt the clinical testing offer and processing to ensure a customer-based approach is implemented. Provide an agile service offer to adapt to the customer needs and market evolution to ensure Eurofins Alba Science is at the forefront of innovation and regulatory changes that impact the business.
  • Develop the Company's activities through organic growth and acquisitions in line with company objectives.
  • Increase profitability to meet best industry standards in all activities.
  • Take appropriate measures to improve economic profit, including hands-on personal commitment in addressing situations where profit levels are too low.
  • Become familiar with all aspects of Group services to ensure awareness of cross-selling opportunities and avoidance of duplication of production capacities. Develop strong relationships with other experts and MD's across the group portfolio.
  • With your Business Leader, define and agree strategies and a business plan to achieve and/or expand market leadership in the UK, while reaching and/or maintaining the required level of profitability. Implement the strategy as agreed with your Business Leader.
  • Prepare and propose annual budget and 3 years plan for the direct testing BU that fits within the wider C&CP UK P&L. Report on any deviations to deliver agreed upon results to your Shareholder.
  • Lead / take part in Group projects / initiatives / assignments in the UK and abroad as agreed from time to time with your Business Leader.
  • Investigate and assess potential acquisition targets and be part of discussing with the MD about strategic future plans.
  • Ensure that the Company complies with all relevant legal and contractual obligations that relate to it. Set up appropriate control mechanisms to detect and report any relevant deviation.
  • Ensure that the Group's Spending & Contracting Authority is fully understand and implemented for your perimeter and report any relevant deviation.
  • Ensure that the Company complies with all relevant legal and Health & Safety requirements and that accreditations are maintained and regularly expanded and that all employees act according to Eurofins' values.
  • Provide Quality direction for the technical team, to retain accreditations and grow where this will facilitate winning new business, including taking part in the audit schedule, where required.
  • Ensure that the Company has appropriate systems, work ethics and policies in place to guarantee high quality of service to clients and ensure line managers have the appropriate objectives and performance review processes in place to provide continual improvement.
  • Define and agree goals and milestones with your team and ensure goals are defined and communicated to the team. Set up customer-centric Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress. Follow up as appropriate and participate actively if required to ensure achievement of goals.
  • Provide input on the sales and marketing strategy, so that together with the Sales team, the goal to increase the business in the areas where Eurofins Alba Science operate profitably. Be a resource for sales when they are initiating new businesses or developing existing capabilities to demonstrate the high level of technical knowledge the business has. Ensure the profitability strategy is reviewed periodically to allow flexibility to go after new areas of business and continual improvement.
  • Lead / take part in the marketing and sales process and ensure that the relations with the clients are continually being optimised. Attend and lead meetings, if necessary, with key clients at all levels and develop an in-depth knowledge of customer requirements through regular meetings in order to best organise the technical teams.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction by the delivery of excellent service, including internal customers.
  • Hire, motivate, develop and retain excellent employees.
  • Lead according to Eurofins Leadership Charter and act as a role model for employees.
Qualifications
  • Preferred scientific background.
  • Experience in working within the field of clinical studies on humans (cosmetic testing, pharmaceutical testing, dermatology).
  • Experience in taking care of key accounts and in optimizing processes.
  • Experience in managing a P&L.
  • Languages: English - fluent & French - nice to have.
