Location: University of East London, Beckton, E16 2RD
Salary: £14.34/hour (£29,929.30 annually)
Hours: 40 hours per week, 5 over 7 days including ad hoc weekends
Shift Times: Between 7am – 6pm, with occasional evening work for eventsTake the lead in shaping the future of campus dining.We’re looking for an experienced and driven Team Leader to join our catering team at the University of East London. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment, supporting the smooth delivery of food and retail services across campus.Your role will include:
  • Leading and motivating a team of food, beverage, and retail staff to deliver excellent service
  • Coordinating daily operations and communicating effectively with kitchen and service teams
  • Ensuring high standards of food presentation and customer satisfaction across the outlet
  • Monitoring inventory levels, assisting with stock orders, and managing waste to control costs
  • Maintaining food safety and hygiene compliance through regular checks and corrective actions
  • Supporting student engagement events and fostering a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere
  • Completing operational and finance-related documentation
  • Acting as the first point of contact for both team members and customers during your shift
We’re looking for someone who:
  • Has proven catering or food service experience
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Communicates clearly and confidently with both customers and colleagues
  • Thrives in a busy service environment and remains calm under pressure
  • Has a solid understanding of food hygiene and health & safety procedures
  • Enjoys working collaboratively and supporting the development of others
