- Provide line management support to all staff within the Specimen Reception section.
- Organise and participate in the training and development of new staff within the sections.
- Create and maintain policies and standard operating procedures that ensures the staff within the section can understand and carry out all relevant tasks efficiently.
- Provide supervision to MLAs and ABPs daily to ensure smooth operational management of the section. Adjust daily staffing allocations to meet the needs of the laboratory, where necessary.
- To produce and manage an effective MLA shift rota, and to ensure hours of service are covered, on weekdays as well as weekend and bank holiday support.
- Develop and manage an effective inventory management system for the Pathology stores area. Engage with end users to effectively manage their supply of consumables.
- Act as the main point of contact for general enquiries from primary care and local external healthcare providers. Ensure the timely resolution of issues relating to consumables distributed by the Pathology stores area, pre analytical handling of specimens and transport of specimens.
- HCPC approved Biomedical Science degree (or equivalent)
- State Registration with the HCPC.
- Relevant Master's degree (MSc) or Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science (FIBMS) or demonstration of equivalent knowledge and experience
- 3+ years BMS experience working in routine clinical laboratory
- Experience of multiple pathology disciplines

- Experience of stock and inventory management. Good understanding of the principals of inventory management in a clinical laboratory.
