Job Description: General Adults Consultant PsychiatristJob Type: Full-TimeSalarySalary Type: AnnualSalary Range: £125,000 - £160,000Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment to adult patients.
  • Conduct regular follow-up appointments and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement projects within the psychiatric department.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Be involved in mentoring and training junior medical staff and trainees.
  • Participate in administrative responsibilities, including committee memberships as required.
  • Stay current with evolving clinical practices and research in adult psychiatry.
Essential Qualifications:
  • License: GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • Core Psychiatry Training (CT1–CT3): 3 years full-time training covering general adult psychiatry and other subspecialties, enabling eligibility for Higher Specialist Training.
  • Higher Specialist Training (ST4–ST6): 3 years in a chosen psychiatry subspecialty (e.g., adult, forensic, child and adolescent, or old age psychiatry), leading to a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT): Confirms eligibility for consultant psychiatrist roles and placement on the GMC Specialist Register.
  • Recognised medical degree (e.g., MBBS, MBChB) from a GMC-approved institution.
Desired Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in psychiatry, with a focus on adult patients.
  • Experience working in NHS hospitals or private psychiatric providers, such as Cygnet Healthcare, is preferred.
Additional Guidelines:
  • Location Preference: Ideally local to the hospital site; however, a relocation package is available for candidates based elsewhere in the UK or Ireland.
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours a week in person, varying between 36 to 42 hours/week based on role requirements.
  • Shifts may vary based on hospital requirements; some roles allow for up to 2 days of remote work.
  • Travel: Primarily onsite, with no significant travel required.
  • Interview Process: 2–3 stages, including a potential meet-and-greet with the team.
