Job RequirementsA Mechanical Design Engineer plays a crucial role in the Aerospace and Defence industry, ensuring that all products and processes meet the highest quality standards. At Quest Global we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team.As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for 3D modelling, conceptual design to Modelling, 2D modelling, Design to manufacturing, material selection, and concession/Non-conformance (identifying, documenting, and resolving any non-conformance issues that may arise during the manufacturing process). You will work closely with cross-functional teams to carry out design activities, investigate and analyse non-conformance reports, develop corrective actions, and implement effective solutions to prevent future occurrences.Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out detail design activities to meet the requirements of design to manufacture
  • Conduct thorough investigations of non-conformance issues, including root cause analysis and failure mode analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to develop and implement design and corrective actions.
  • Monitor and track the progress of corrective actions, ensuring timely completion and effectiveness.
  • Implement Drawing/ Definition Change Requests
  • Maintain accurate documentation of non-conformance reports, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce non-conformance occurrences.
Work ExperienceRequired Skills (Technical Competency):
  • Proficient in 3D CAD package for both modelling and drawing, ideally PTC CREO v7 and TEAMCENTER UNIFIED
  • Mechanical engineering detailed design - first-hand experience of engineering design.
  • Ability to develop and update Creo models and drawings
  • Ability to compile manufacturing drawings so BS8888 drawing standard with an understanding of TeamCenter Unified (TCU) PLM, to allow drawing and part sign-off
  • Ability to interpret and create high quality engineering CAD models and manufacturing drawings, including GD&T
  • Experience in designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies and subassemblies for heavy industry, power transmission systems, gear and Gear box
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the Aerospace and Defence industry.
  • Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gear box
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, BS8888)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
