Mechanical Engineering Manager – Full-Time, Permanent (West Bromwich)Monday - Friday: 8am - 4.30pm (30-minute lunch break)£50,000 - £55,000 per annum, dependent on experiencePeople Solutions are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our well-established client based in West Bromwich on a full-time permanent basis.A vacancy has arisen to join the Engineering Department within a lower-tier COMAH facility.This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a highly skilled engineering team.The successful candidate will be an experienced, qualified Mechanical Engineer/Manager, and we are looking for an immediate start.Benefits

Day-to-Day Duties:
  • Full responsibility for managing the Mechanical & Civil Engineering departments (23 staff, plus external contractors when required)
  • Oversee mechanical and civil maintenance operations within an industrial manufacturing setting
  • Deliver and manage minor mechanical projects from conception to completion
  • Use and manage Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) effectively
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all engineering activities, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Liaise with all levels of staff internally and with external stakeholders such as suppliers, contractors, the HSE, and insurance inspectors
  • Provide hands-on leadership and ensure operational priorities are met
Essential Skills:
  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering (minimum)
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a mechanical engineering role within an industrial manufacturing environment
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management position
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance and project delivery
  • Proficient in the use of CMMS systems
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and shifting priorities
  • Good working knowledge of health & safety and compliance requirements in an industrial setting
Desirable Skills:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience working within a COMAH-regulated site
  • Familiarity with liaising with regulatory bodies such as the HSE and insurance inspectors
  • Advanced IT/computer literacy (MS Office, CMMS platforms, reporting tools)
