GSL Education is delighted to be working with a high-achieving secondary school in central Southampton, rated Outstanding by OFSTED, to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant.This is an exciting opportunity to join a school with an exceptional reputation for academic excellence, pastoral care, and professional development.The Role:As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students who require additional guidance outside the mainstream classroom or within the school’s dedicated resource base.Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support for students who need help managing their behaviour and re-engaging with learning.
- Implementing strategies to reduce conflict, support emotional regulation, and encourage positive choices.
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral leaders, and parents to ensure each student feels valued and supported.
- Acting as a role model, building strong relationships with students to help them develop confidence and resilience.
- Exceptional leadership and teaching recognised by OFSTED as “inspirational and highly effective.”
- A supportive and collaborative staff culture where wellbeing is prioritised, and every staff member feels valued.
- A strong commitment to professional development, offering regular training and clear progression pathways.
- A welcoming and inclusive environment where both students and staff are encouraged to achieve their very best.
- Experienced in working with children or young people, this could be in schools, youth work, sports coaching, or similar roles.
- Skilled in behaviour management and conflict resolution, with a calm and empathetic approach.
- Resilient, patient, and enthusiastic about helping students overcome barriers to learning.
- Able to bring transferable skills, but childcare experience is essential.
