Our very busy client based in Dukinfield are looking for an experienced Industrial Paint Sprayer/Team Leader to join their well-established team.The company is a reputable and well-known setting in the area. With a vast knowledge of the industry that has been built for over several years. The team is always around to lend a hand should you ever need it.You will be responsible for surface preparation and the application of protective coatings on various types of steel. This includes newly fabricated items used in industrial environments. The role ensures compliance with coating specifications, safety standards, and quality control protocols.Responsibilities:
  • Prepare pipe surfaces by hand abrasion, power tooling, or chemical cleaning to required standards (e.g., SSPC/NACE).
  • Apply industrial coatings (epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich primers, etc.) using airless, conventional, or plural-component spray systems.
  • Ensure coating systems meet specifications on thickness (WFT) including upper and lower limits.
  • Mask off flanges, threads, and valves to avoid overspray and ensure protection of non-coated areas.
  • Interpret isometric drawings, plans and coating specifications.
  • Mix and handle coating materials in accordance with manufacturer’s technical data sheets (TDS).
  • Operate and maintain painting equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Work at height or in confined spaces (e.g., inside tanks or pipe racks) as required.
  • Record and report work progress
  • Date rotation of paint products
  • Coordinate with QA/QC personnel
  • Coordinate a small team for prep and touch up
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of industrial painting/coating experience, preferably on pipework or structural steel.
  • Valid certifications such as NACE Level 1, SSPC PCI, or ICorr desirable.
  • OHEC and FLT desirable
Competency:
  • Competent in using coating inspection tools (DFT gauge, surface profile comparator, WFT comb, etc.).
  • Understanding of NACE/SSPC/ISO/ASTM surface preparation and coating standards.
  • Ability to interpret TDSs, SDSs, and coating procedure specifications.
  • Trained and fit-tested for use of respiratory protection (as required by job conditions).
  • Able to work in varying environments including high places, confined spaces, and outdoors.
  • Strong safety record and understanding of job-specific hazards (solvents, fumes, flammables).

  • Understanding of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
Work Environment:
  • Primarily ventilated spray bake within factory setting
  • Exposed to harsh industrial environments including dust, noise, and increased temperatures.
  • Work may require use of scaffolding/platform, confined space entry, and respirator use.
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks over extended periods.
  • May be required to work off site around the country
Working Hours
  • 5 hours per week – Monday to Friday
