Job DescriptionAbout the roleAs a Metering Systems Engineer, you’ll play a central role in ensuring our smart metering infrastructure runs seamlessly. From configuring and commissioning metering systems to integrating data with cloud platforms, you’ll be at the heart of delivering reliable, high-quality solutions to our clients. While primarily based in the office, you’ll also be out on-site for system commissioning, troubleshooting, and client engagement — making this a varied and hands-on role. You’ll also take ownership of the metering technical support desk, coordinating ticket workflows and working closely with teams across the business to deliver exceptional service.Job RequirementsWhat you’ll be able to offer
  • Strong knowledge of metering protocols (e.g., Pulse, M-Bus, Modbus, LoRaWAN)
  • Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs, firewalls)
  • Experience with IoT gateways, telemetry, and remote communications
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues confidently, both remotely and on-site
  • Strong attention to detail skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships both digitally and in person
  • High IT literacy skills

  • Configure, commission, and support smart metering systems, gateways, and data loggers.
  • Troubleshoot and manage communications protocols and remote connections.
  • Lead the metering technical support desk, managing tickets and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Visit client sites for commissioning, validation, troubleshooting, and support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, network maps, and device logs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve cross-functional issues and support wider projects.
  • Uphold the highest health & safety standards on-site.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the team.
