A values-driven not-for-profit organisation is partnering exclusively with Robertson Bell to recruit a permanent Financial Controller. Dedicated to delivering social impact, this organisation is known for its community focus, environmental leadership, and forward-thinking commercial initiatives.This pivotal leadership role will take ownership of the preparation of statutory group accounts and oversee key financial operations, including general ledger management, treasury, purchasing systems, and fixed assets. The role manages a team of 10, including five direct reports, and reports into the Assistant Director of Finance.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of statutory financial statements for the group
  • Manage the external audit process, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Oversee the general ledger, all financial transactions, and fixed asset accounting
  • Maintain the financial control framework and oversee day-to-day treasury operations
  • Lead on VAT, corporation tax, and overall group tax strategy
  • Manage the annual rent-setting process
  • Develop and support a team of 10 (five direct reports), ensuring continuous improvement and best practice
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Finance and Procurement to ensure high-quality service delivery

  • CCAB qualified (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience in financial leadership within a charitable, public sector, or similarly regulated environment
  • Strong knowledge of financial control frameworks, accounting systems, and purchasing platforms
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proven experience developing or implementing finance systems
