We are currently recruiting for Special Needs Support Assistants to work within a brilliant secondary school based in the Treorchy area. Successful applicants will be working with students in KS3 & KS4 who have various additional learning needs including Autism, ADHD & Dyslexia. This position is running on a full-time basis and available until the end of the academic year, with interviews being held online in the next 2 weeks.Responsibilities:
- Assist classroom teachers with various tasks, including lesson preparation, classroom management, and student supervision.
- Provide one-on-one support to students who may require additional help with their academic or social development.
- Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and valued.
- Support teachers in implementing behaviour management strategies and maintaining discipline within the classroom.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting the educational development of young learners.
- A current Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate registered on the Update Service.
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
