
Highways Delivery Manager

- Proven experience managing highways or civil engineering projects in the UK.
- Strong knowledge of highways standards (e.g., DMRB, Manual for Streets) and construction best practices.
- Experience working with NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4).
- Excellent understanding of CDM Regulations and safety management.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Competent in the use of project management and reporting tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Full UK driving licence.
- SMSTS certification preferred.
- Chartered or working towards membership of a relevant professional body (ICE, CIHT, APM).
- Lead the delivery of highways projects from inception through to completion, ensuring compliance with client, statutory, and contractual requirements.
- Manage contractors, consultants, and supply chains to deliver programmes of work effectively.
- Ensure projects are delivered to agreed timescales, cost, quality, and health & safety standards.
- Support with the development and submission of consents. Manage and adhere to all consent conditions.
- Oversee construction activities, traffic management, and roadworks coordination to minimise disruption to the public.
- Provide accurate project reporting, progress updates, and risk/issue management to senior stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK highways standards, CDM Regulations, and Health & Safety at Work legislation.
- Manage budgets, monitor costs, and ensure value for money in project delivery.
- Build strong relationships with local authorities, National Highways, utility companies, and community stakeholders.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in project delivery.
- Support the development and mentoring of junior staff within the highways team.
