
Primary Care Dental Practice Advisor

- Bachelor of Dental Surgery, BDS/BChD or equivalent
- Full registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) and inclusion on a Dental Performers List in Wales
- Evidence of meeting General Dental Council Continuing Professional Development Requirements (including up to date CPD profile incorporating all core subjects)
- Knowledge of UK Dental legislation and NHS GDS, representational, regulatory, educational and remuneration systems/arrangements
- Understanding of the relevant statutory and strategic dental policy (Wales and UK)
- Aware of NHS primary dental care, dental contracting and professional standards in general
- Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (UK)
- Diploma in General Dental Practice
- Additional postgraduate qualifications appropriate to primary dental care
- Current/recent hands-on clinical experience in NHS primary care dental practice
- Substantive practice experience of at least 5 years - to include NHS General Dental Practice within the 2006 dental contractual arrangements (desirable at principal level) in the last 3 years.
- Previous advisory or leadership roles
- Experience of primary care policy, development, planning and implementation at Health Body/ LHB level
- Experience through membership of a Local Dental Committee or similar body e.g., GDPC Wales, of the generic issues relating to General Dental Practice
- Ability to travel between sites, including Dental practices across the Hywel Dda region
- Flexible approach to needs of the service
- Welsh Speaker (Level 1) Listening/Speaking: Pronounce Welsh words, place names, department names, etc. Greet and understand a greeting. Use basic every day words and phrases, e.g. thank you, please, excuse me, etc. Understand / pass on simple verbal requests of a routine / familiar / predictable kind using simple language, e.g. 'May I speak to...'. State simple requests and follow up with extra questions / requests in a limited way. Reading/Understanding: Understand simple key words and sentences on familiar / predictable matters relating to own job area, e.g. on signs, in letters. Writing: Fill in simple forms, note down simple information, e.g. date and venue of a meeting, Welsh address, etc.
