To provide professional advice and support to the Local Health Board in relation to NHS Primary Dental Care matters.To provide clinical leadership, advice and support to general dental practitioners.Work closely with the Associate Medical Director - Dental, Heads of Primary Care and Cluster Leads to promote the development of oral health services and enhance connectivity and integration between Primary Care contractor services.Main duties of the jobThe Primary Care Dental Practice Advisor provides internal/professional advice and support to the Local Health Board in relation to NHS Primary Dental Care matters as well supporting with strategic development.The role will involve work interfacing with general dental practices along with the Health Board's Primary Care Team, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, Public Health Wales Dental Public Health team, Welsh Government and Health Education and Improvement Wales.The role will involve providing clinical leadership and advice to the Primary Care Team to ensure that Primary Care Dental Services are delivered in a manner that is of a high quality with mechanisms for continuous improvement.The successful candidate will work interfacing with General Dental Practices and will play a vital role in offering support and guidance to dental professionals including clinical advice, audit and quality improvement.About usHywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties.   • Bachelor of Dental Surgery, BDS/BChD or equivalent
  • Full registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) and inclusion on a Dental Performers List in Wales
  • Evidence of meeting General Dental Council Continuing Professional Development Requirements (including up to date CPD profile incorporating all core subjects)
  • Knowledge of UK Dental legislation and NHS GDS, representational, regulatory, educational and remuneration systems/arrangements
  • Understanding of the relevant statutory and strategic dental policy (Wales and UK)
  • Aware of NHS primary dental care, dental contracting and professional standards in general
Desirable
  • Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (UK)
  • Diploma in General Dental Practice
  • Additional postgraduate qualifications appropriate to primary dental care

  • Current/recent hands-on clinical experience in NHS primary care dental practice
