- Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience in patient/public involvement/ engagement, healthcare, social sciences, or related field.
- Evidence of a commitment to personal development
- Demonstrable track record of providing PPIE expertise and support to healthcare researchers, including developing and delivering training in PPIE, communications and inclusive research practice.
- Experience in managing and leading engagement projects, from design to evaluation.
- Experience of developing and implementing effective monitoring and evaluation measures in order to track/monitor PPIE/ communications activity
- Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
- Effective financial management and governance skills
- Ability to work effectively across boundaries and harness an effective professional network
- Fund-raising/ grant application development experience
- Experience in working with patients with complex health needs, carers, or underserved groups.
- Experience in service improvement, quality improvement, or patient safety initiatives.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of current PPIE standards, policies and best practice in the NHS and/ or academia and challenges.
- Knowledge and experience of working in healthcare and/or an academic environment
- An understanding of the diversity profile of the local population and how to identify and engage with communities that are currently under-represented or disadvantaged in clinical research
- Creative, collaborative and adaptable with strong organisational and project management skills, and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of people including patients, diverse communities, research and NHS leaders.
- Ability to analyse data and feedback and translate this into actionable recommendations.
