Closing Date 23:59 on 11/09/2025For an informal discussion about this role, please contact:What you'll be responsible forAs the Security Manager, you will be responsible for the management of Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water's security programme. Whilst primarily focusing on physical and personal security the role will involve liaising with cyber security programme to ensure a holistic approach to protective security.You will act as the business lead for the security management at each of the company's CNI assets ensuring a security strategy for each site and compliance against the annual SEMD audit. You will also be required to manage highly complex and sensitive information and produce regular briefings, reports and guidance, including on risks associated with security requirements.The role will require the individual to be able to introduce and embed a Security culture within Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, supported by a continued awareness programme to ensure Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is seen as a professional, resilient and prepared organisation.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Develop the Policies and Strategies that underpin the requirements for physical security within the business supported by a document-controlled policy for all security processes ensuring an annual review process and audit trail.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory and legislative requirements (SEMD, PSG, CCA) and relevant guidance documents (CPNI, Water UK Security Standards), implementing changes where required to ensure company obligations are met.
- Ownership and management of the SEMD capital programme including risk-based site identification, outlining appropriate security requirements (based on relevant legislation /guidance) and futureproofing any selected technology
- Management of key associated business functions and external stakeholders and contractors to ensure all SEMD and security schemes are produced within timescales and to budget
- Ensuring all Welsh Water's identified strategic and designated CNI sites are effectively managed in accordance with Government requirements, coordinating the implementation and reporting of the annual assessment of these sites and engaging an external party to carry out an audit inspection of Welsh Water's CNI sites every 3rd year.
- Manage a risk-based audit programme for CNI, operational and non-operational sites on all matters relating to security using the findings to improve security processes where required
- Developing and performing security risk assessments in accordance with Welsh Water's Application of Security Standards on all operational assets.
- Coordinating the company's response to national security incidents, being the conduit between Senior Management, Police and Security Services, giving advice and guidance when required.
- Develop and implement appropriate personnel security procedures including undertaking and managing the Government Security Vetting process for Welsh Water senior staff and appropriate personnel
- Work with HR colleagues to ensure appropriate security procedures are in place for leavers/movers/starters, security checks and key management

- A degree level qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role
- An experienced individual capable of leading key business activities that support the wider customer experience as part of effective control and operational delivery
- Proven experience in security practices, stakeholder management and budget handling
- Committed to Continued Professional Development (CPD) and a member of the appropriate professional body
- The ability to embed change within the business, ensuring and rise to the challenges of driving and in a rapidly moving environment
- Knowledge of the DCWW business with the ability to ensure excellent customer service and emergency response in all situations.
- Able to demonstrate drive and tenacity to see opportunities to improve business performance in responding to and planning for incidents
- The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to be seen as a highly credible representative of the business
- Able to travel across Wales, and the UK to visit sites and attend internal and represent Welsh Water on water industry working groups
