The opportunity:As a Senior Surveyor at Solomons Europe, you'll act as a professional advisor and team member embedded in client projects. You will be well-versed in commercial management and effective contract administration practices and will take a lead role in ensuring effective project delivery and the achievement of targeted outcomes on behalf of our clients.Your role comprises striving for project delivery excellence within your team at all times. You will be experienced in building a culture of collaboration, able to communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders, to positively influence project direction and continuous improvement practices. You will be keen to foster a culture of trust and inclusivity, enabling all team members to voice ideas and concerns, and providing opportunities for rapid and effective solutions to be found to emerging project challenges.What you will bring to the role:
  • Degree level education in Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Commercial Management, or Engineering (HNC/HND with relevant experience also considered).
  • Ideally pursuing or already possess professional membership or qualification from accredited institutes such as RICS, CIPS, ICE, or similar.
  • Comprehensive understanding of contract law, legislative changes, best practice guidance, and relevant statutes (e.g., Construction Playbook, HGLDA), as well as standard contractual provisions and differences between standard forms of contracts (e.g., NEC, FIDIC, JCT).
  • Proficiency in commercial controls, managing contract variations/compensation events, and providing strategic commercial advice to clients to improve cash flow and profitability.
  • Skilled in delivering accurate and timely commercial analysis and reports (CVRs, Project status reports, Subcontract Management, Procurement, etc.) to meet KPIs and drive commercial results.
  • Active involvement in mentoring team members to foster a culture of learning and improvement, leading discussions for enhancing project administration and commercial processes.
  • Proven experience in supervising quantity surveyors in either pre or post-contract roles, effectively managing deadlines, action plans, and delegation of tasks.
  • Ability to leverage both professional and technical skills to cultivate strong working relationships and collaborative networks across client organizations, professional networks, multi-disciplinary teams, stakeholders, and the wider supply chain.
  • Possession of a full UK driving license and access to a car for essential business travel to client sites and Solomons offices.
