Assistant Plant Area Manager
Location: South Downs area
Working Hours: 40-42.5 hours per week

With a wide range covering shrubs, bedding, trees, houseplants, and seasonal favourites, they combine trusted horticultural expertise with a strong retail offer, making them a go-to destination for customers in the local community.They're now looking for an Assistant Plant Area Manager to support the day-to-day running of the plant department. As Assistant Plant Area Manager, you'll work closely with the Plant Area Manager to ensure the department is well-stocked, beautifully merchandised, and offering an excellent customer experience. You'll help care for the plant stock, keep displays looking fresh and inspiring, and support your team in delivering first-class service.Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Plant Area Manager in leading, motivating, and developing the team.
  • Ensure plants are well cared for, maintained, and presented to a high standard.
  • Assist with stock management, ordering, rotation, and waste reduction.
  • Deliver knowledgeable, friendly service and advice to customers.
  • Use sales reports and data to inform merchandising and product selection.
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and operational procedures.
About You
  • Strong horticultural knowledge across outdoor and indoor plants.
  • Experience in a garden centre or retail environment.
  • Organised, proactive, and commercially minded.
  • Confident leading and motivating a small team.
  • Great eye for detail and visual presentation.
  • Passionate about plants, gardening, and delivering an excellent customer experience.
