The company operates a range of power generation technologies and revenue streams, ensuring the security of supply while optimising market opportunities.The RoleAn opportunity has arisen to recruit a Mechanical Project Engineer to join the Central Engineering team. The role will cover all live & future assets.The key purpose of the role is the development, construction and execution of large-scale capital projects whilst providing technical support to the operational Plants. The focus will be CCGT Life-time Extension projects, new build and any new development projects.Key ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Head of Engineering, the key duties and responsibilities will include:- Designing, developing and delivering the Engineering Strategy within the specialty.
- Have expertise of all matters relating to mechanical engineering.
- Preparation, review and submission of mechanical design and specifications.
- Oversight of engineering project development and implementation including (for exam-ple): provision of technical data production and checking of engineering requirements / related documents evaluation of tender submissions commissioning support.
- Working with the Senior Project Mechanical Engineer to give a qualified assessment of electrical designs, studies and reports.
- Works Witness testing of manufacturer equipment, contractor installations and attending works progress meetings to monitor the progress and quality of work.
- Delivering innovative technical solutions.
- Supporting major plant outages and project works.
- Contributing data and updates as ongoing part of the project's reporting requirements.
- Tracking and reporting on project progress.
- Overseeing the installation and commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring they are completed according to design specifications.
- Establishing and maintaining agreements with key maintenance and operations service providers and contractors, supporting the fleet in contractor selection, tender creation, re-view, and execution.
- Technical nomination processes and work with the site managers to ensure that all staff achieve their highest level of competence.
- Carrying out technical RCA, including cross site RCA investigations and promptly share the lessons from all incidents, share best practice across the fleet.
- Delivery of the company quality programme.
- Providing technical oversight and audit of external resources (including operational and construction projects).
- Fully supporting the planning and execution of projects, deploying to sites as required.Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseBackground- Prior experience in a Senior Engineering role working cross fleet, ideally a power station or similar infrastructure, specifically with CCGT power generation operational experience - essential.
- Experience in establishing and implementing a proactive approach towards Health, Safety and Environment management - essential.
- Understanding and commitment to building and leading a constructive culture where em-ployees are provided with challenges and opportunities - essential.
