PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £40,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.PURPOSE OF THE ROLEAn opportunity to be responsible for the services and operations of the News Libraries and manage a team of Digital Archivists across the north of England. The News Libraries are responsible for the archiving, logging and research of News Content for their local news teams and providing access and support to all programme makers.
The Archive / Library Team Leader is focused on day-to-day operations, ensuring archive assets are managed and stored effectively.
This role involves management of Digital Archivists across multiple locations and will be based at one of these sites (Hull, Leeds, Newcastle and Salford) with a requirement for regular travel between other sites.WHY JOIN THE TEAMJoin our team and help preserve the rich history of the BBC archive. As part of a nationwide team, you'll also actively support production makers and promote the archive, bringing its treasures to wider audiences.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:The Archive / Library Team Leader is responsible for operational leadership and the management of services, processes and resources. Responsibilities and accountabilities include (but are not limited to):· Playing a leading role in supporting the BBC's charter responsibilities to maintain an archive of transmission content· Building and maintaining effective working relationships with customers (both internal and external) in order to ensure services remain aligned with business needs and are highly regarded.· Building high-performing teams and providing the full range of line management support, including mentoring and professional development.· Ensuring that Archive policies and standards remain aligned with current BBC business needs.· Ensuring best use of Archives resources in a way that enhances the interests of BBC Archives and to meet operational demands· Measuring the effectiveness of Archive services and developing appropriate measures, plus assessing service offerings, team performance and the contribution of individual staff members, in order to achieve efficiency, value for money and innovative ways of working.YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEESSENTIAL CRITERIA:· Experience of building high-performing teams and providing the full range of line management support, including performance management, mentoring and professional development· Excellent communication skills· Experience of working under pressure and tight deadlines· Experience of resource management to meet operational demands.· Experience of workflow and process management to meet efficiencies and changing business needsDESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:· Experience of co-ordinating projects to deliver a high-quality service· Demonstrable knowledge of Audiovisual Archives and their importance to the BBC· Interest in News and Current Affairs· Knowledge of IT systems and databases and their application to information servicesIf you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we'd love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.DisclaimerThis job description is a written statement of the essential characteristics of the job, with its principal accountabilities, incorporating a note of the skills, knowledge and experience required for a satisfactory level of performance.
