- Delivery of a wide range of materials engineering projects.
- Marrying materials expertise with operational experience to produce documentation addressing operating fleet materials challenges.
- Performing feasibility and optioneering studies to generate design / manufacture solutions to problems.
- Development of engineering solutions through the design lifecycle; Concept, Scheme, Detailed Design and Construction.
- Supporting the development of bids and value propositions.
- Management of project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Confidently liaising with, presenting to, and influencing stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally, in understanding their issues, goals, and processes and to build strong, lasting relationships.
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- A degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Corrosion or other relevant mechanical engineering disciplines (or equivalent work-based experience).
- Chartered or incorporated with a relevant professional institute (e.g., IoM3, TWI), or approaching application for registration.
- Experience in solving materials, manufacturing, welding and corrosion challenges in the nuclear or conventional power industries.
- Understanding of materials / manufacturing challenges specific to nuclear power plants e.g. materials ageing mechanisms, oxidation / corrosion in reactor coolants, inspection techniques, design requirements.
- Experience working within design codes, standards and regulations typical for the engineering industry e.g., ASME, Eurocodes, BS EN13001, RCC-M, machinery directive, HS&E legislation.
- Experience in writing, checking, and reviewing technical reports and documentation e.g., design calculations, basis of design, safety case reports, design reports.
- You are comfortable using your own judgement when managing uncertainty and technical risk.

- Previous experience of working in the UK nuclear industry, or another highly regulated industry, would be an advantage.
