Team Manager – Safeguarding
Full-Time | Children's Social Care | Must DriveHerefordshire Council is looking for an experienced and driven Team Manager to lead their Children’s Safeguarding Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who’s passionate about protecting children and supporting frontline staff in delivering high-quality safeguarding practice.As Team Manager, you’ll oversee a team of social workers managing complex child protection cases, ensuring robust planning, timely interventions, and positive outcomes for children and families across the county. You’ll also play a key role in driving performance, supporting professional development, and embedding a culture of strength-based, child-focused practice.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strong leadership and oversight for a busy Safeguarding Team
  • Ensure effective case management and high-quality decision making
  • Supervise, support and develop a team of qualified social workers
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies across Herefordshire
  • Monitor performance, quality, and compliance with statutory frameworks
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement
Working Arrangements:
  • Full-time permanent role
  • Office-based with flexibility
  • Travel across the county required – must hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle
Essential Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
  • Proven management or supervisory experience within children’s safeguarding
  • Strong knowledge of legislation, guidance and best practice in child protection
  • Confident leader with excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Commitment to supporting a positive team culture and improving outcomes for children
Additional Benefits:
  • Welcome payment £10,000 (pro rata) for experienced social workers following 6 months in post
  • After 1 year’s service with the council, a payment between £2,000 - £4,000 (dependent on team)
  • Relocation support of up to £10,000
