- Lead and deliver detailed electrical designs for 11kV and 33kV grid connections.
- Prepare design submissions for DNO/IDNO approvals, including all supporting documentation.
- Manage 3rd party design houses and set to work where necessary.
- Produce cable calculations, protection grading studies, and substation layout drawings.
- Develop bills of quantities and technical specifications in line with IEC, DNO, IDNO, and client requirements.
- Liaise directly with clients, suppliers, DNOs, and IDNOs throughout the design lifecycle.
- Complete POC applications and support due diligence for new sites.
- Review manufacturer technical proposals for compliance with design intent.
- Coordinate with civil and electrical teams to ensure integrated and constructable solutions.
- Manage the design approval process with relevant stakeholders.
- Support project teams during design changes and through delivery stages.
- Ensure compliance with current legislation including ESQCR, CDM, and Electricity at Work regulations.
- Sign off designs under NERS accreditation where appropriate.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in HV design, preferably within an ICP or DNO/IDNO environment.
- Strong understanding of contestable works and UK grid connection processes.
- Familiar with DNO technical standards and G81 documentation.
- Proficient in relevant design and calculation software (e.g., AutoCAD, Amtech, CDEGS, ElectricalOM).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and client liaison skills.
