This is an outstanding opportunity to join a leading consultancy in Nottinghamshire as a Senior Highway Engineer. The role involves designing and delivering highway and civil engineering projects and providing specialist technical knowledge support engineering services which enhance and maintain the road network.What you will be doing:
·Lead design and delivery of highway and civil engineering projects ranging in value and complexity including highway geometric alignment, pavement, and drainage design, specification and contract documentation to achieve quality, programme and financial targets meeting customer and stakeholder requirements.
·Provide specialist design, technical and cost advice to colleagues, clients or external bodies including checking and approval to relevant standards to support the delivery of complex and large scale projects across the organisation.
·Manage the evaluation and authorisation of externally designed engineering schemes on behalf of internal and external clients to ensure highway network asset meets regional and national design specification and safety standards.
·Collaborate with the Construction and Commercial Division to manage workflow thereby achieving company business plan objectives for productivity and profit across design and build functions.
·Ensure adherence to Health and Safety management systems, processes and requirements ensuring full compliance to health, safety and environmental legislation and policy; act as Principal Designer on low complexity highway and civil engineering projects, to comply with the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations.
·Coach and mentor developing technical expertise of team members to assist with achieving individual performance targets and future potential.
·Manage consultation, communication and liaison with clients and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including members of the public and elected Members to facilitate project delivery and maintain a positive company reputation.
·Act as an ambassador for individual schemes and the Company across professional, business and community events and networks at local and regional levels.What experience you need:
·Degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject and post-qualification relevant experience or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in a highway and/or civil engineering design environment.
·Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or Engineering Technician and Member of a Professional Institution (relevant discipline) or working towards a development plan to gain chartership or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience demonstrated by CDP record
·Strong ICT skills including competence in specialist computer applications used to support highway design and civil engineering activities including working knowledge of current computer aided design with 3D design software, Microsoft Office and knowledge of data management environments.
·Extensive working knowledge of current highway design and civil engineering standards, contracts, and current Construction Design Management (CDM) Regulations.
·Extensive working knowledge of health and safety, technical, traffic management and other legislation and good practice appropriate to highway and civil engineering construction and maintenance activities.
·Experience in providing information, communicating and working collaboratively with internal and external customers, stakeholders and colleagues to achieve delivery objectives.
·Experience in managing project budgets and financial reporting of project programmes.
