We are currently seeking a talented and detail-oriented Senior Technical Writer to join our Learning Content team.As a Senior Technical writer, you’ll play a pivotal role in producing, developing and publishing our written learning material. This includes user guides, reference guides and technical articles. Your primary responsibilities will be for our family of compositing tools (Nuke, Nuke X, Nuke Studio), and our look development and lighting tool, Katana. However, you will also be expected to offer support for our software for story development, modelling, and texture painting.As this is a senior role, you will be expected to identify and implement improvements to our written learning material and the platforms we use to deliver the content. By working closely with the engineering and product teams, you will become a trusted owner of all release documentation and plan your work around our annual release schedules.Joining Foundry as a Senior Technical Writer represents an opportunity to be at the forefront of visual effects and digital content creation.   • Creating, updating, and maintaining comprehensive documentation for Nuke and Katana and associated products. This documentation includes user guides, reference guides and technical articles.
  • Delivering against our annual product release roadmaps.
  • Gaining a comprehensive understanding of Nuke and Katana’'s features, tools, and workflows.
  • Proactively initiate reviews and improvements to documentation and platforms.
  • Frequent and proactive collaboration with product managers, developers, and QA teams to ensure technical accuracy in documentation and to stay updated on new features and updates.
  • Incorporating feedback to improve documentation, effectively addressing stakeholder and user requests and queries.
  • Maintaining analytics and providing insights to improve the documentation based on audience viewing statistics.
  • Collaborative technical writing review processes, ensuring content consistently meets high-quality standards.
  • Working with wider Marketing teams to align documentation with broader company messaging, brand guidelines, and customer education initiatives.
  • Owning documentation-related projects, driving them to completion, and maintaining visibility and updates for all progress and blockers.
  • Organizing, and prioritising workload independently.
  • Administering and updating project tracking tools, including Asana and GSuite apps.
  • Working effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, handling frequent updates and changes.
  • Staying updated with industry trends, new tools, and best practices in technical writing and training in similar domains to continually enhance the quality and relevance of the documentation.
RequirementsTHE ESSENTIALS.
  • At least five years of experience in technical writing for complex software applications.
  • Excellent written English, accurate editing and proofreading skills, and demonstrable experience writing documentation to a high standard.
  • Ability to understand and analyse complex software features to create accurate and user-friendly documentation.
  • Familiarity with Nuke, Katana, or similar node-based compositing software. A good understanding of visual effects (VFX) processes and terminology.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with various stakeholders including developers, product managers, and customers.
  • Able to provide concise and insightful feedback on written material.
  • Good problem solver with an eye for process, platform, and content improvement.
  • Experience using MadCap Flare for topic-based single-sourcing.
  • Good familiarity with Docs as Code platforms such as Sphinx, Hugo, or AsciiDoc.
  • Solid grasp of HTML and CSS.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal assistance from colleagues.
THE NICE TO HAVE, AND KEEN TO LEARN.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in document translation tools, including recent AI-based solutions.
  • Experience in using GIT for version control.
  • Familiarity with Asana and Confluence.
