The post holder will deliver professional and operational priorities and manage the Acute Oncology Nursing team. They will ensure safe, effective and person centred care of patients, supporting colleagues working across the whole organisation with visible leadership and management of services to promote safe integrated patient pathways and efficient and effective use of resources.Accountable to the Senior/Lead Nurse, the post the post holder will be an integral member of the Oncology Department management team and will be required to be competent and able to lead in all service areas, providing expert knowledge and support to junior staff and other professional groups.The post holder will be a member of the team responsible for triaging oncology patients and providing a direct/indirect out-reach acute oncology service for NHS Tayside. This team provides assessment and intervention for patients with cancer/treatment toxicity and works with patients and carers to, where appropriate, prevent or facilitate admission.The key components of this role will be a clinical role that will:
  • Ensure safe and effective clinical practice.
  • Design, implement and evaluate specialised programmes of care.
  • Enhance the patient's experience of care.
  • Working Collaboratively to Manage and develop the performance of the Acute Oncology team.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Organisations Objectives.
  • Enable and promote patients' independence.
  • Ensuring interpretation of national policies for local implementation within the Oncology service and provide specialist advice to NHS Tayside Board
It is essential that you are a UK NMC Registered Level 1 Adult Nurse. Extensive post registration experience within an acute care setting as a band 7 Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Educated at Masters Level. You should be able to evidence your continuing professional development along with excellent clinical knowledge, leadership, and communication skills.
