The Day Janitor provides essential on-site support to ensure the smooth operation of facilities during working hours. This role works closely with the Facilities Management (FM) and Health & Safety (H&S) teams, maintaining a clean, safe, and well-presented environment for all building users.Working Hours:
- Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 3:00pm (30 hours per week).
- Flexibility is required to support business needs, including occasional overtime or weekend working (with prior notice).
- Hours may be adjusted in agreement with the Facilities Manager to accommodate site requirements or events.
- Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day janitorial requests.
- Carry out regular inspections of communal areas, toilets, and high-traffic zones, addressing issues promptly.
- Respond quickly to spillages, accidents, or hazards to maintain a safe environment.
- Support minor maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing lightbulbs, moving furniture, reporting defects) and assist the on-site Facilities Engineer with general duties when required.
- Ensure waste bins are regularly emptied, recycling is maintained, and waste storage areas are kept in order.
- Monitor and report potential hazards or unsafe conditions to the FM/H&S teams.
- Assist in ensuring fire exits, stairwells, and escape routes remain clear and accessible.
- Support emergency procedures (e.g., fire alarm evacuations, incident response).
- Carry out daily checks (washrooms, first aid points, spill kits, etc.) as instructed.
- Maintain stock of janitorial and H&S supplies (e.g., PPE, cleaning products, paper goods).
- Provide a friendly and approachable presence for staff, visitors, and contractors.
- Respond to service requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Cover reception duties when required, ensuring visitors are welcomed, assisted, and directed appropriately.
- Liaise with FM/H&S teams to escalate issues outside janitorial scope.
- Maintain janitorial stores in a clean, organised manner.
- Ensure all tasks are carried out in line with company policies and H&S regulations.
- Support FM team with event or meeting room setups and reconfigurations.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the FM or H&S teams.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit to undertake manual handling tasks when required.
