Cambridge FE College | Construction & Building ServicesAbout the Role - Lecturer in PlumbingWe are delighted to represent Cambridge FE College in their search for an inspiring and experienced Plumbing Lecturer to join their Construction & Building Services department. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled plumbing professional to shape the future of the industry by delivering high-quality education to the next generation of plumbers.As a Plumbing Lecturer, you'll deliver inspirational teaching across a range of programmes to learners of varying ages and abilities. You'll play a key role in course design, programme development, and the continued expansion of this thriving department.Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning:
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across plumbing programmes
  • Provide inspirational education to learners with diverse ages and abilities
  • Create and maintain teaching materials, handouts, assignments, and electronic resources
  • Prepare comprehensive Schemes of Work and Assessment
  • Integrate Maths & English into the vocational curriculum
  • Conduct moderation, assessment, and verification activities
Student Support:
  • Act as course tutor, supporting learners to achieve their targets
  • Track and review student progress, maintaining detailed records
  • Provide regular feedback to students, parents/guardians, and employers
  • Arrange and support work placement programmes
Course Development & Administration:
  • Contribute to course design and programme development
  • Assist in recruitment and admission of new students
  • Attend internal and external promotional events
  • Participate in course team reviews and curriculum development initiatives
  • Liaise with Awarding Body representatives and External Verifiers
Industry Engagement:
  • Develop and maintain strong industrial links within the plumbing sector
  • Stay current with industry trends and technological advances
  • Contribute to the expansion of the department's industry connections
Essential RequirementsQualifications:
  • Minimum Level 3 vocational qualification in Plumbing
  • GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
Experience:
  • Substantial, recent and relevant industrial experience in plumbing
  • Proven track record in the plumbing industry with up-to-date knowledge
Skills & Attributes:
  • Current Health & Safety knowledge for the plumbing industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to motivate people of all ages and abilities
  • Flexible and responsive approach to change
  • Professional appearance and outlook
  • High-level IT skills for creating teaching resources
Working Requirements:
  • Flexibility for evening and weekend work when required
  • Ability to travel independently to other college centres
  • Commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
Desirable RequirementsTeaching Qualifications:
  • Certificate in Education/PGCE/DTLLS
  • Assessor qualifications (A1 or equivalent)
  • Internal Verification qualification (V1 or equivalent)
Experience:
  • Recent lecturing, instructing, or training experience
  • In-depth knowledge of current plumbing curriculum
  • Additional construction/building services related qualifications
