Join the Rural Estates team as either a Rural Surveyor or Project Manager.We are a team of 12 who sit within the wider property team and are responsible for the management of the County Council's Rural Estate which is 10,500+ acres with over 1,000 buildings spread across Hertfordshire.We are a forward-thinking Estate striving for sustainability where there is an emphasis on protecting and enhancing nature alongside exploring commercial and strategic opportunities. We are already working on exciting projects such as Biodiversity Net Gain, tenancy re-organisations, 500 acres of development land, innovative farm re-lettings and habitat creation.You will sit alongside other Rural Surveyors and Estates Officers in a supportive team which creates a great environment to learn and develop.About the roleThere are currently two Senior Rural Estate Officer vacancies within the team, one of which is part time.The two posts have slightly different specialisms with one focusing on the day-to-day Estate management such a rent reviews, farm re-lettings, development projects. The other post focusing on the built project management side where you would lead on capital projects such as re-roofing houses, new barns, and small commercial conversions. Each post can be either part time or full time.Both posts would suit a newly qualified surveyor or someone looking for more variety in their role. The part time post would allow for great flexibility, especially if you are returning to the workplace.Your work will be both interesting and rewarding with no two days the same and you will be out on the Estate meeting with tenants or contractors.About youEssential:
  • Educated to degree standard (or equivalent experience) ideally in an RICS accredited degree or built environment/rural property related discipline
  • Member of a professional organisation e.g. The RICS or a minimum of 5 years relevant experience (if you are not sure if you have the right experience please do contact us, there may be other suitable roles)
  • A proven track record of property or project management
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills: You will have the confidence to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with colleagues, tenants, contractors, stakeholders, and other external professionals.
  • Excellent communication in both written and verbal forms, together with problem solving skills.
  • You will hold a valid licence to drive in the UK and have your own car as you will need to travel across Hertfordshire to visit the estate properties
Desirable:
  • Rural knowledge and experience: We hope the successful applicant will have experience working within a rural setting with a good knowledge of rural property management and the associated legal framework
  • Good knowledge of budget management
  • Good knowledge, and ideally qualifications or training in Health and Safety matters such as Asbestos, CDM, NEBOSH, IOSH
