We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of an Start for Life Clinical Officer, on a 2.5-Months contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.Rate of Pay: £185.49- £258.80 per daySummary:The Start for Life Clinical Officer will work within an integrated Family Hub model, providing clinical expertise to Family Hub, Early Help, Social Work, and other frontline staff to improve outcomes for children aged 0-2 and their parents/carers. The role also involves providing clinical assessment and therapeutic services to vulnerable children and their families. The successful candidate will contribute to ensuring that all children and young people in the London Borough of Southwark grow up in a safe, healthy, and happy environment where they can reach their full potential.Responsibilities:
  • Lead on providing therapeutic consultation and support to children and families within the assigned service area, offering advice and support to other professionals in understanding and developing relevant skills.
  • Contribute to assessing risk and protective factors in cases involving potential harm to children.
  • Organize complex information and produce comprehensive, analytic, high-quality reports that present cogent arguments based on evidence, in writing and in person across various settings, including with families, foster carers, police, colleagues, and in family and criminal courts.
  • Deliver services flexibly across different parts of the service (as dictated by need) and within homes, schools, or community settings when required.
  • Provide training in clinical theories, assessment, and therapeutic methods to colleagues across Southwark.
Qualifications:
  • A mental health qualification that provides eligibility for registration with an organization such as: United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP), British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP), Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) as a mental health nurse, or Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a practitioner psychologist or art/occupational therapist.
Essentials:
  • Experience of delivering evidence-based therapeutic services to children within a relevant setting, ideally with experience of working within a childrens social care setting and providing formal reports to the family or youth justice courts.
  • Experience of assessment and therapeutic work with adults.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic services that offer support to children and their families.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development, parenting capacity, environmental factors, and risk and protective factors.
