Term Time Only: 38 weeks + 5.6 holiday weeks (total 43.6 paid weeks per year)
Hourly rate: £13.00 per hourJoin Our Catering Team at the High School of DundeeWe’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our friendly catering team at the High School of Dundee. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a vibrant school environment where food is at the heart of the community.As part of a small, supportive team, you’ll play a key role in preparing and cooking fresh, high-quality meals for up to 200 pupils daily. From breakfast to lunch—including a popular homemade pizza offering—you'll be involved in creating enjoyable, nutritious meals that make a difference.What You'll Be Doing:
  • Preparing, cooking, and serving food for pupils and staff
  • Supporting breakfast, mid-morning, and lunch service
  • Assisting with hospitality catering for school events (buffet lunches, special events)
  • Contributing to cleaning and kitchen hygiene duties
  • Cross-training opportunities in both the nursery and primary school kitchens
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience working in an educational kitchen is desirable
  • Basic knife and food preparation skills
  • Understanding of HACCP food safety systems
  • Good communication and food presentation skills
  • Familiarity with recipe management systems is a plus
  • A flexible, proactive approach and willingness to learn
  • This role would suit a chef with a solid foundation in kitchen work who is looking to grow and develop within a supportive team.
