This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about helping young adults with a range of needs – including Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and communication challenges – develop essential life, vocational, and academic skills.Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to post-16 learners with special educational needs.
- Assist with the delivery of tailored academic and life skills sessions
- Encourage independence, communication, and self-confidence in every interaction.
- Support students in community-based learning and transition planning.
- Help manage behaviour and emotional regulation in a calm and positive manner.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to meet individual learning goals.
- Monitor and document student progress and wellbeing.
- Experience working with students or young adults with SEN (school, college, care or youth setting).
- A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Understanding of autism, SEMH, or learning difficulties.
- Awareness of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Relevant qualifications in education or support work are desirable.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
