Flexible working will be part of the discussion at offer stage.PURPOSE OF THE ROLEWe have an exciting new opportunity for a Corporate Finance Analyst to join the BBC Group's Corporate Finance team, working across the BBC's public service and the BBC's commercial subsidiaries. The Group Corporate Finance team leads on financing, investment and transaction activities in the BBC, providing advice and execution expertise at the most senior levels in the BBC.WHY JOIN THE TEAMThe Group Corporate Finance team leads on, contributes to and manages special projects as and when they arise across the Group.You will be directly involved in the assessment of strategic options and commercial opportunities for the Group (where the BBC is a principal or shareholder). You will also provide support on transaction and non-transaction corporate finance valuation, negotiations and advice.The role will be managed by Corporate Finance Managers in the team who report into the two heads of the team.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:As a Corporate Finance Analyst, you will:
  • Build collaborative relationships across the BBC's finance leadership, public service divisions, Group functions and commercial subsidiaries
  • Act as a critical adviser to support the appraisal, challenge and resolution of key business initiatives and issues
  • Provide assistance in the assurance and delivery of recommendations and solutions, based on high quality, concise and sound financial and strategic analysis
  • Help to influence BBC decision-makers in the shareholder oversight of the BBC's commercial subsidiaries and solving complex pan-BBC challenges
  • Work with senior colleagues in the team to help manage projects that progress the BBC's strategy, adopting a collaborative approach and co-ordinating across multiple teams
  • Identify and reference external and BBC-wide knowledge of best practice in corporate finance financial analysis, ways of working or driving commercial performance (including benchmarking analysis, industry monitoring and liaising with external advisers when required)
The responsibilities above will include supporting Corporate Finance Managers across key areas, including:
  • Group planning: Maintaining and analysing the long-term corporate modelling across the BBC's public and commercial activities
  • Corporate finance advice: Providing corporate finance expertise across the BBC Group on the assessment, structuring and negotiation of financial transactions, investments and partnerships and managing external relationships (including updating the BBC's credit stakeholders on the BBC's covenant)
  • Performance: Analysing and reviewing financial performance, especially drivers, trends, and the competitive environment, to enhance understanding thereof on the part of management, the BBC Board, regulators and external advisers
  • Special projects: Working with stakeholders across the Group to participate in and manage special projects. The nature of these projects is varied but will typically include financial modelling and the ability to provide a range of scenarios
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEYou will have some background in working in corporate finance or a closely-related discipline, advisory or in-house. A professional accounting qualification is not a requirement for this role.ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • A background in working in corporate finance or a closely-related discipline, advisory or in-house (such as working on financial transactions; investments; mergers and acquisitions; or financial modelling)
  • Experience managing the delivery of complex projects or initiatives
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:You will preferably also have a background or experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Financial return, corporate valuation analysis, and/or building corporate forecasting models
  • Assisting in the provision of written advice to a board-level standard
  • Initial drafting of clear presentations to non-financial stakeholders, and partnering with stakeholders to challenge and test assumptions
