Join a specialist provision in Slough as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), and make a tangible difference in the lives of students who need structured, compassionate support.Aspiring Criminal Justice Officer – Learning Support Assistant Slough – Education and TrainingAs a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils with additional needs including autism (ranging from low to high support), PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance), and speech and language communication differences.
- Work with young people who may be at risk of exclusion, disengagement, or involvement with the youth justice system.
- Use neurodiversity-informed strategies to reduce anxiety, build predictable routines, and scaffold emotional regulation and communication.
- Promote emotional resilience, self-awareness, and healthy peer relationships.
- Be a consistent, trusted adult in a trauma-informed, restorative environment.
- Youth Justice or Probation Services
- Behavioural or Educational Psychology
- Social Work or Family Support
- Prison, Court, or Community Rehabilitation Services
- Providing structured 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN, SEMH, and autism spectrum conditions.
- Implementing behaviour and sensory regulation strategies that are tailored to each learner’s neurocognitive profile.
- Supporting personalised learning plans based on both emotional development and academic goals.
- Helping pupils develop executive functioning, social reasoning, and essential life skills.
- Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and families to track progress and adapt interventions.
- Participating in de-escalation and relational behaviour support (full training provided).
- Graduates in Criminology, Psychology, Education, Social Sciences, or Humanities.
- Future professionals passionate about safeguarding, social justice, rehabilitation, or education reform.
- Empathetic, open-minded communicators with a genuine interest in neurodiversity and inclusion.
- Individuals eager to learn about autistic identity, sensory processing, and non-verbal communication.
- Those with previous experience in education, care, or youth services are especially welcome – though it’s not essential.
- A positive, flexible attitude and the ability to build rapport quickly.
- A willingness to engage with restorative, trauma-informed, and inclusive approaches.
- An Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
