Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician based at our water production site at Latton (GL7 5QF) near Swindon.The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure that all equipment at our water production sites is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical equipment.Follow robust planned maintenance as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. As well as provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Base Location - Latton WTW - Cirencester - GL7 5QF.
  • 38 hours per week, Monday-Friday. 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.
  • All PPE and tools, plus the provision of a van when on duty and call.
  • A company van, all tools, and PPE will be provided.
What you'll be doing as an Electrical Technician
  • Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
  • This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
  • You will be expected to provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, screw /chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
  • Participate in a standby rota following the relevant training.
  • Complete License to operate. (Operate sites and learn the water treatment processes)
What you should bring to the role
  • You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G level 3 in electrical engineering.
  • A problem solver, able to identify potential issues and implement solutions, or escalating if required.
  • An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to Internal and External staff and contractors.
  • Resilient, adapting to the pressures of work and working in a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative to design and standards.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • Team player who can work in many different teams showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting the development of others.
  • IT literate.
  • Full UK driving licence
