We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Theatre Manager to join our expanding theatre team. The successful candidate will be an experienced Theatre Scrub Practitioner with up-to-date experience working in theatres, ophthalmic procedures and current practices.Reporting directly to the Clinical Services Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day organisation and running of our Ophthalmic Theatres, daily management of the theatre team, including scrub nurses, OPDs, RGNs and HCAs. You must have experience dealing with purchasing, maintaining stock levels, CQC compliance, preparation for inspection, policies, processes and procedures, supporting and developing a clinical team whilst ensuring high quality patient care is provided at all times.Main duties of the jobKey Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating theatres and surgical equipment for ophthalmic procedures.
  • Assist surgeons during operations, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring patient safety.
  • Daily management of theatre team personnel.
  • Monitor and support patients throughout the intraoperative phase.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold confidentiality standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in audits, training, and continuous professional development.
  • To attend monthly operations committee meetings, as and when required.
  • May be required to assist with return to theatre cases out of hours.

  • - Registered Nurse (RGN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with valid NMC or HCPC registration.
  • - Theatre management experience
  • - Minimum of 3 years experience with ophthalmic procedures is essential.
  • - Be able to supervise/train other scrub nurses.
  • - Strong understanding of infection control and theatre protocols.
  • - Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • - Commitment to patient-centred care and clinical excellence.
  • - Current ILS desirable but not essential
  • - ALS certification is desirable, and will be expected to undertake the- ALS certification as part of the roles CPD.
  • - Use of a car as travel to nearby sites is desirable.
  • - Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, and Word.
